The Apption Data Podcast - Episode 7
In this episode, Anjali Mohammed, Co-op Student at Apption, and Nick Salt, Lead Developer of Datahunter, dive into Apption’s journey with Cohere, starting with how we joined the first cohort of the Cohere Startup Program, leveraged their AI capabilities in Datahunter, and ultimately developed Cohere.NET—an open-source Software Development Kit designed specifically for .NET developers.
The Cohere Startup Program
Apption joined Cohere’s Startup Program to enhance the AI capabilities of our product Datahunter. Cohere, a leader in B2B AI solutions, provides startups with discounted rates and dedicated technical support through the Startup Program. This allowed Datahunter to efficiently explore various large language models and natural language processing tools.
"We weren’t sure which of Cohere's tools was best suited for us. Their technical team helped us identify the perfect fit, which significantly accelerated our development process." - Nick Salt, Datahunter
Anjali praised the platform’s intuitive design and user-friendly documentation, emphasizing how accessible it is for beginners.
“The platform is simple yet powerful, and the support team is incredibly proactive.” - Anjali Mohammed, Datahunter
Datahunter: Transforming Research Workflows with AI
One of Datahunter’s standout features involves analyzing, processing, and finding life cycle inventory (LCI) data. By leveraging Cohere’s language models, Datahunter transforms client workflows:
Problem: LCA researchers often sift through hundreds of pages of publications, a process that can take weeks or even months.
Solution: With Cohere's LLM and NLP tools, Datahunter dramatically reduces the time spent on research, allowing teams to focus on higher-value tasks. This is done by processing unstructured data seen in the research industry.
This integration showcases the immense potential of AI in optimizing workflows and improving productivity.
Cohere.NET
During the integration of Cohere with Datahunter, the team realized the lack of a .NET SDK for Cohere’s API. The team took the initiative to develop Cohere.NET, an open-source project that simplifies API integration for .NET developers.
“Why should others reinvent the wheel? We built Cohere.NET to make it easier for developers to integrate Cohere’s tools without starting from scratch.” - Anjali Mohammed, Datahunter
The SDK currently supports Cohere’s chat, classify, and rerank endpoints, with plans to expand functionality. It has the potential to unlock innovative AI applications in the .NET ecosystem.
For developers and innovators, Cohere.NET is a must-check-out resource. Interested in exploring its possibilities? Visit the project here: NuGet Gallery | Cohere.NET 1.0.0 and join the community!
