Canada Soccer‘s Club Licensing System Saves 70% in Administration Time
About Canada Soccer
Canada Soccer supports and promotes sport across all levels in Canada, from youth leagues to professional club. They also play a vital role in Team Canada’s representation at the FIFA world cup and in co-hosting the tournament in 2026. All clubs, referees, coaches, and players in the country need to register through Canada Soccer.
The Challenge
Canada Soccer was looking for a way to streamline and modernize their collaboration with sports clubs and leagues across the country, notably the management of club license renewals. The challenge was to move off excel sheets, pdf forms, and a legacy manual system into a modern web-based platform that can easily track versions, comments, and collaboration between stakeholders.
Apption was chosen for our approach to risk management and our ability to execute against a rapidly approaching deadline: the upcoming license renewal season.
Our Solution
Our team was involved from the beginning of the project gathering requirements. We were able to build a Blazor application leveraging Azure services and Azure SQL servers. The system went live before the deadline and was delivered 40% under the allocated budget following the best data security standards.
Outcome
All 1,200 clubs in the country now use the system for their renewals, impacting 1,000,000 registered participants.
"Apption delivered this system on time and below budget, proactively addressing all of our security risks. We estimate this system reduces Canada Soccer's renewal administration time by 70%. All the clubs across Canada benefit from this improved platform." - Jay Payette, CIO, Canada Soccer
The time savings if the club licensing system allows Canada Soccer to better utilize resources and spend saved time collaborating with provincial and district stakeholders to pursue their vision of leading Canada to victory and Canadians to a life-long passion for soccer.
